Bradfield CC 2021 Update & Call To Action

02 Feb 2021

Dear ##firstname##,

We hope you are all doing well, staying safe and managing through the recent lockdown.  We appreciate that Cricket will probably be very far from the mind at the moment.  However the days are starting to get longer, and hopefully before we know it we will be putting plans in place to resume playing Cricket.  I wanted to update you on several things regarding the club as the committee recently come together to discuss the plans for the 2021 season.

Junior Coaching

As you know the club has been on a journey over the last few years in regards to looking at alternative coaches/companies to help support the junior playing section.  A large number of parents & volunteers who had given up much of their time & many years of service had moved away from the juniors as their children got older and more involved in senior Cricket.   Currently the club has no head coach or junior "lead" in place and is looking for volunteers who would be willing to help.  There are various roles from coaching, to managing sides, to co-ordinating with the committee available.  We are not asking for a lot of your time, and we are investigating going back to a coaching company to lead the actual coaching, it may be that we need your help to assist those paid coaches who will do the "heavy lifing" and your support will be to assist where needed.  If you are interested in supporting the club over the next few years, the club is prepared to pay for people to take coaching courses if that is something people are interested in.  The arrangements we had in place last year will not continue, and at the moment we are not taking anything for granted in terms of "Coaches".  If you are interested in continuing to support the club and aid the growth of the junior section then please reach out to me or Dave directly.

Winter Nets

It goes without saying that indoor nets will not take place at all this winter.  Even if things were to change from the current state, we think it is unlikely we will get anything meaningful in.  We are preparing to commence outdoor training as soon as we get the green light from the ECB & the government. We will be in touch when we have more information in regards to this.

Saturday Cricket - 3rd XI

We have good news in regards to the 3rd XI that we trialled last season, the Thames Valley Cricket League have accepted our application and the club will be entering a 3rd XI in the league.  The team will play their home fixtures at Englefield Cricket Club, which is a beautiful ground close to Bradfield.  Tim, Bob & Dave have been working hard to get Englefield up to scratch and it is a great opportunity for the club to further expand and a great second home for the club.  The aim of this side will continue to be a bridge between junior & senior Cricket.  We want to give the opportunity to as many juniors as possible to experience playing on Saturday in a fun but competitive environment.

Annual Subs

The committee have agreed that with the absence of indoor training, annual subs will be reduced in line for the year 2021.  Further information will be available shortly, but it is likely annual subs will be £50 instead of the usual £100 should we get an outdoor season as expected.

AGM

We are looking at alternative arrangements and may host a virtual AGM if needed to satisfy our constitution. Again we will be in touch as details become clearer over the coming months about our route out of lockdown.

Thanks for reading if you got this far. Should you have any questions please ask.

Kind Regards,

Jack Byrne
