Dear ##firstname##,
Just a quick reminder that the old paper £5 note ceases to be legal tender on 5 May - ie Friday this week. A short leaflet explaining what happens is attached - basically the old notes can still be exchanged (for all time) directly with the Bank of England for a new plastic note, but banks and building societies are not obliged to change them into new ones after Friday.
Please can you therefore try not to use any old £5 notes at the bar on Friday as it will be a real pain to get them exchanged!
Many thanks for your help on this.
Regards,
Tim
