Bradfield Cricket Club News story

Bradfield CC - March Newsletter

22 Mar 2017

Dear ##firstname##,

I hope you are doing well and looking forward to the start of the new Cricket season.  Weather has slowly started to get better and with the clocks going forward this weekend the days will get longer.

You may have seen some updates on our Facebook & Twitter pages recently, but here is a summary of things as we start to ramp up ahead of the season.

Outdoor Nets

Fundraising continues for our new outdoor nets, and work has started. You can follow the progress on our Facebook page, but the foundations have been laid and building work will start and hopefully we will be ready by the end of next week.  It is really exciting times, please look out for events around the opening of the new nets in time for the start of outdoor training.  If you are interested in making a donation to the club, which would really help us, then please let me know and I can give you the relevant details.   To those who have already made donations, we will be in touch to make arrangements for bats and other thankful gestures from the club for the help you have given us.

Indoor Training

We have been training at the Willink Leisure Centre since the start of February and have just three sessions remaining.  We know the facilities have not been fantastic, but the turnout for juniors members has still been great. Next year we have taken on the feedback and we will look to start splitting up the junior sessions so that we can use the full facilities for all our age groups.   Location and time for the seniors is obviously a negative and we will look next year at alternative venues for senior training, and maybe alternative days/times if that would suit people. More to follow on this.

Annual Subs

Notes have been sent out about annual subs from Mike & Rich, please get these in ASAP as it really helps with the cashflow - especially as we have just had a big outgoing for the payment of the nets.  If you need the information again, let me know and I will send out the relevant e-mail.

Outdoor Training

We will announce these dates closer to the time (weather & ground dependent) but it is likely that outdoor training will begin on Thursday 20th April for seniors, and Friday 21st April for juniors.

Availability

As we are getting towards our first fixtures, please can I ask that you update your availability for the season - if you know of any dates that you are definitely away then please indicate this as all the fixtures are now loaded onto the site.

Natwest CricketForce Day

There is a lot of work that needs to happen at the ground to get it ready for the start of the season, we have a list of jobs and you will receive an invite shortly to our Natwest CricketForce. This will be on Saturday 1st April from 930am onwards, please do your best to turn up even if only for a couple of hours as many hands make light work. We can get a lot done with a lot of people and hopefully stop the need for additional work parties.

As a general note, we are always looking for more people to help us with things. Whether that's coaching, behind the bar, general organisation, helping at events, ground work - we have lots to do and the more people who want to help the easier the strain on the current volunteers.  If you have some spare time or you are interested in getting involved please let us know, we will be more than happy.  You do not need to commit to doing something every single week - just being around once a month can help us.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.

Kind Regards,

Jack Byrne
