Bradfield Cricket Club Sunday v Kiwis CC on Sun 08 Jun 2008 at 1430
Bradfield Cricket Club Won by 131 runs
A full on hot Sunday afternoon saw Bradfield lose the toss and be invited to bat. After the loss of an early wicket, a good partnership was developing between Guy and Alistair, this came to an end bringing Ed Dack (On Sunday debut)to the crease. After an acclimatisation period Alistair started to accelarate stroking some classy boundaries, before being out for 45, bringing to an end a good 54 run partnership. Ben then came into the fray and he too after a steady start began to score quickly, Ed's bat sounded awful and he took some convincing that it was broken, however he still managed to reach his first 50 for Bradfield(55 NO) and contribute to the matches highest partnership of 106 with Ben, who was eventually stumped on 68. Steve Bliss then rattled a quick 26 NO before tea to allow the skipper to declare on 232 for 4 (after 43 overs)
After the usual marvelous tea from Margaret North Bradfield took to the field. Craig North took a wicket with the first ball of the innings and ended up with with 3 for 26 from 9 overs. We used 7 bowlers in all with Scott taking 3 for 8 off 4.3 overs. There was also 1 wicket a-piece for David Brown, Steven Bliss and Ed Dack. Kiwis were bowled out for 101 in 31 overs.
Neil Merricks helpful as usual became cap carrier bridging the gap between player and umpire and later was rewarded with a Mr Whippy 99 from the Crowd (Alec THE Scorer taking an afternoon off)Neil was banished to fine leg by the skipper to consume it.
Thanks to Paul who although travel-lagged stood in at short notice to Skipper the side, he provided some entertainment to the team when keeping wicket, especially when he got perfectly into line to take a ball from Scott only to be completely fooled by a googly turning the other way.
A good team performance again with nearly everyone contributing to the end result.
