Senior Playing Update - 2016 Season

10 Mar 2016

Dear ##firstname##,

I hope you have had a good winter, with lots of fitness work and practice ready for the up and coming season..

There is only five weeks to go until the first Sunday game of the season (Whitchurch Walruses away, 17th April).  After a league EGM on Tuesday night to discuss the expulsion of one certain team, we are 99% sure our fixtures will stay the same and we have now uploaded them onto the site.

Pre-Season

The final winter nets will take place on Friday 18th March (due to early Easter) - so there is only two sessions left.  Please try your best to pop down as we look to finish off strongly.   Adult nets takes place 8:30-10, with a drink afterwards back at the bar.

We are then due to start outdoor training on Thursday 14th April. We realise this is a bit of a gap of four weeks, so if weather allows we will try to get our earlier.  We will confirm as soon as possible if dates are due to change.

There will be a mixed game against Waltham St Lawrence on Saturday 30th April at Bradfield CC, this is listed under 1st XI fixtures - but Waltham are a Division Two side and both clubs will play a mixed side.  This will be usual league format rules.

We then take on Earley at Bradfield on Thursday 5th May in a Twenty20 game, 5:30pm start.  This game will replace the training session that night.

Season

Our seasons then kick off on Saturday 7th May.   The 1s will host Goring, whilst the 2s will be travelling to Falkland.  All games this season start at 1pm, as opposed to previous seasons when only the start and end games started at 1.

On Saturday 11th June we have agreed with our opponents to start at 12pm.  England play Russia in the Euros that evening (8pm) and we will be hosting an event at the club.  Hopefully the early start time will ensure those who are playing away have plenty of time to travel back to Bradfield for the evening's fun.

As confirmed before, all fixtures are now online.  For those who are organised and know when they will be away during the summer, please start to update availability on the site so we get a good idea of when we will be short etc..

We had nearly 50 players represent us during the 2015 season, which was great.   The club is certainly growing our senior playing membership, and if you have any friends/family/work colleagues etc.. who are interested then please bring them down. We have three teams a weekend playing so there is plenty of opportunity for new players.

Annual Subs

As confirmed by the committee at the 2015 AGM, subs will increase in the 2016 season and also include a shirt.   The club have placed the order with Serious Cricket, but in order to gain delivery on time we have to ensure we can meet the costs of all the shirts upfront.   Tim will send out an e-mail shortly detailing the subs structure and payment required.  We have had to upgrade parts of our equipment over the winter so we are asking that players pay ASAP.  Please can you pay as soon as possible so we can have our shirts in time for the start of the season.

2016 Tour

For those who registered interest in the 2016 tour, we are still looking to go ahead with this.  The agreed dates were Tuesday 16th August-Thursday 18th August.   Can anyone who has not yet confirmed interest please contact me.

Work Party

There are plans in place to refurbish the car park BEFORE the 2016 season starts.  There will be details of work parties coming out very soon, as part of Natwest CricketForce we need as much help as possible to get this done on time.  You all know how difficult it can be during the off-season to park on the dirt, so it will be great for the club to get this work done.

If you have made it to the end of this e-mail without falling asleep well done, Conrad will be getting you all a free pint as he takes over the bar.  Maybe...

Kind Regards,

Jack Byrne
